I'm @LA2015 Special Olympics World Games!

The Special Olympics World Games is at hand!  With 6,500 athletes and 3,000 coaches representing 165 countries, along with 30,000 volunteers and an anticipated 500,000 spectators, the 2015 Special Olympics World Games – being held here in Los Angeles July 25-August 2, 2015 – will be the largest sports and humanitarian event anywhere in the world in 2015, and the single biggest event in Los Angeles since the 1984 Olympic Games.
I have been involved with the Special Olympics in the Santa Clarita Valley for a little while now, a really worthy cause.  I encourage you to get out and get involved with the group in your local area; there is always a need for good support personnel!  One of my favorite events growing up was Gymnastics, and I am honored to be selected to as one of the few local photographers asked to participate in the 2015 Special Olympic World Games. I am covering - that's right - Rhythmic and Artistic Gymnastics at the John Wooden Center! Woohoo! Other days have me covering Tennis, Judo and Softball - perfect me me as I love live action and candid photography. What a great fit this will be!

Holy Toothpicks, Batman! I caught the board shattering at the moment of impact!

Using my photography skills to cover my favorite events is pretty cool in and of itself, but the icing on the cake was yet to come.  Thanks to a recent upgrade in our marketing, Sony has offered to lend us some of their latest and great camera equipment to cover the World Games! Yay- New Toys! I am really pumped about the unboxing and hands-on and will try to get some pix posted. World Games clothing and ID arrived, and coupled with a nice camera Sponsorship from SONY Corporation of America, I'm looking forward to giving a lot and learning a lot.  And isn't what this is all about anyway?

Oscars - The Gifting

Finals pics from the Oscars

It’s Oscar Weekend and that means… pictures OF stars, but no pictures WITH stars

Oscar weekend and all the pre-Oscar parties kick off today. Truth be told, I am on my way to one right now – one of the top designers in Beverly Hills, Pol Atteu, is having a get-together in his Style Suite, and I was invited to attend. When the interviewers ask the stars, “Who are you wearing?”, listen for that name. It is always nice to see talented local businesses push the big corporate giants out of the way and grab some of the spotlight for themselves. Pol is a supporter of 501c3 Project Green Gift, which has the mission statement of preserving green space for future generations. Kudos to Pol!

Photography is a feast or famine business like so many others in this economy right now. It seems like I just got back from a fantastic time at Sundance, where the Indielounge honored me with a Best In Class award, and now I am prepping for my Oscars invitation. I will be a key photographer at the Rooftop Gifting Suites. Yes, that means outside, so I am hoping for good weather! The gift bags this year are worth over $160,000, containing everything from luxury train trips and Audi car rentals to custom furniture and stunning pieces of jewelry. I will strive to get releases on some of my photos and post some post Oscar pix of the good goodie stuff, sure to be missed by the networks!
